The Federal Capital and its neighboring states are still suffering the effects of unadulterated fuel as fuel prices by black marketers hit N400 per liter.
The Big Picture.
Following the withdrawal of the import fuel from Europe, which had a high level of methanol beyond Nigeria’s specifications, fuel scarcity had hit several states of the country. Reports say that some fuel stations are still in the process of returning the adulterated fuel it received from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and as such have no fuel to sell.
Furthermore, motorists in Abuja, Niger and Nasarawa have resolved to purchase fuel from black markets; people who sell fuel in jerry cans as the long queues at the filling stations with fuel is discouraging. The National Public Relations Officer, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chief Ukadike Chinedu, who confirmed this situation to newsmen called on the Federal Government to grant explicit instructions on how to return this adulterated product.
Garba-Deen Muhammad, spokesman of the NNPC, called on Nigerians to remain calm as the situation would soon be resolved.
