Five confirmed dead in gas explosion on Mushin, Lagos.

On Tuesday 16th of November 2021 at about 8am, a gas explosion occurred in Ojekunle street, Mushin, Lagos state. Officials of the emergency commission have been deployed to contain the incident.

Why it matters?
The Director General of Lagos state Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola confirms to newsmen that four adult males and a female have lost their lives in this incident. The cause of this gas explosion is still I known as investigations are underway. Although LASEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said that the origin of the explosion was from shops stacked with gas cylinders.

First services, first responders and emergency agencies are at the scene containing the incident.

A Facebook post by LASEMA reads, “The Agency’s Response Team, Eagle Squad at Cappa have been deployed to a fire outbreak at Ojekunke Street, Ladipo Mushin today, Tuesday, 16th 2021.

“On getting to the scene, the Response Team discovered an open land with shanties and shops where gas cylinders are stacked.

“Further investigation revealed that the gas ignited and exploded.

“However, the Agency’s Team and its Fire Unit and Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps,
“LNSC, have been able to put the fire under control and the firemen are blanketing the affected area.
