Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has declared the leaked report by the Judicial panel set up by the Lagos State government as fake.
Why it matters?
The final report of the Lekki incident on October 20, 2020 was presented to the Lagos state government a few days ago by the nine-member judicial panel. The leaked report claimed that nine people died and others injured.
Several months back, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in an interview claimed there was no violence by the Nigerian Army at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos State.
With the revelation by the judicial panel and considering the stance of the Minister, newsmen have made several attempts to get a comment from the Minister. The spokesman of the Minister claimed few days back the Minister was out of the country on an official assignment and would respond as soon as he could.
On Tuesday, the Minister finally held a press conference and addressed the result by the panel, he said that the allegations are “fake”. In his words, he regarded the result as “tales by moonlight”.
