Reports from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have announced that 40 people have died from Lassa Fever in January 2022.

While giving a report of the Lassa Fever situation in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said on Sunday that statistics show a case fatality rate (CFR) of 19 percent lesser than the case fatality rate recorded in January 2021 which was 22.2 percent. It also says that they recorded at least one case in the 43 local government areas of the 14 states.
Speaking of the states affected by the virus in the country, the NCDC said that it confirmed 211 cases in 14 states in Nigeria. Statistics also show 82 percent of confirmed cases were from Osun State, Edo State and Bauchi State. NCDC further added that it has set up an Emergency Coordination Centre (EOC) to handle responses at all levels.
