The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will distribute 300m liters of fuel.
Why it matters?
There was a mass withdrawal of adulterated fuel from depots and filling stations all over the country because of increased amounts of methanol found in the imported fuel from a source of supply. This withdrawal has resulted in long queues in filling stations and scarcity in some parts of the country.
The Federal Government has swiftly acted to reduce the fuel scarcity the withdrawal would cause. Farouk Ahmed announced the NNPC has offloaded about six vessels carrying about 300 million liters of fuel. He added that in Lagos, for example, a vessel is about to discharge to OVH, Total Energies, 11 Plc, Conoil and Ardova Plc.
