Africa’s biggest financial technology company, Flutterwave, has integrated Google Pay as a payment option on its platform. The unicorn which promised to list Google Pay and Apple Pay back in February has fulfilled its promise of the former, by providing users with the global payment service to complete transactions on Flutterwave’s 30,000 stores.

What’s more
With Google pay available in 42 countries and accessible on Android phones, tablets, or smartwatches, the service’s global users can make payments on Flutterwave’s store within an average time of 3 minutes.

Why this matter
With the enlistment of Google Pay and integration of eNaira, Flutterwave has become one of Africa’s best payment options in terms of swift and varied payment solutions.

What they are saying
Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave’s founder and CEO, while speaking on the integration, said that the company’s goal is to provide simplified payments for everyone. He added that the “GooglePay payment option will attract more international customers and increase the current success rates for businesses on Flutterwave.”

Also, “integrating with Google pay will allow users across the globe to participate in the booming e-commerce ecosystem in Africa. It will enable us to further fulfil our promise of creating endless possibilities for all.”

What you should know
Google Pay is a payment solution by Google to enable safe and easy payments for users. The service uses a near-field communication (NFC) technology to complete fund transfers for merchants in physical stores.

The integration of Google pay on the flutterwave platform would not be automatically added for the company’s 30,000 merchants. Those interested in the option would have to manually select the service.
