National Assembly

The governors under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress have had a heated argument, resulting in a severe exchange of words amongst some of its members.

Why it matters?
The National Assembly has imposed a compulsory direct primary policy on all political parties. The 22 governors of the All Progressive Congress party then debated this policy, but unfortunately, this meeting ended with no agreement made.

Newsmen gathered that the APC national president and former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wants the policy passed by the National Assembly to stand. Other governors do not agree with this decision, as they say democracy is about choices.

In the report by newsmen, it said that the Governor of Nasarawa State Abdullahi Sule spoke to support the direct primaries while Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello led the group who opposed the motion. In addressing the group of Governors, Gov Abdullahi Sule seemed to have used insulting words on Gov Yahaya Bello. This then led to a fierce exchange of words between the two governors.

It took the intervention of the Kebbi state Governor Abubakar Bagudu to calm the situation. They set a later date to revisit the issue with the President to give the final verdict.
