Chairman of the committee and governor of Jigawa State, Badaru Abubakar on Thursday night following the collation of results in Ekiti state, declared Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the primary election.

Kayode Fayemi’s preferred candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, won his counterparts by scoring 101,703 votes, defeating the other seven aspirants. 

The other aspirants which earlier withdrew from the election stated that the reason for their withdrawal was a plot by the current governor to impose Biodun Oyebanji on the party. 

In a letter sent to the party, the aspirants said that the members of the electoral committee comprised people who have declared support for Biodun Oyebanji in the election’s buildup.

The Independent National Electoral Commission slated the gubernatorial election in Ekiti State to hold on Saturday, 18th June 2022.
