The Secretary, Ekiti State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Victor Olabimtan has said in a statement that the All-Progressive Congress primary election in the state would continue as scheduled.
Why it matters?
The statement is coming after seven governorship aspirants initially scheduled to take part in the primary elections withdrew from the race. Following a protest by some party members triggered by concerns over the method adopted by the electoral committee, the aspirants withdrew.
In the statement by the state party secretary, the party assured Nigerians, residents and party faithfuls that the electoral process would be transparent and fair across the 177 wards in the state. Speaking on the electoral process, Victor Olabimtan said that during the stakeholders’ meeting, the party members agreed to nominate 20 people to take part in the electoral process and that they will abide by. The party further urged members to go out and vote.
