The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday said that the Federal Government is proposing an 18months period before implementing the removal of fuel subsidy.

Why it matters?
According to the Minister, this deadline would give the parties involved the ample time to put the structures in place for implementing fuel subsidy. He said that this proposition is subject to the approval of the National Assembly. The Minister also assured Nigerians that the FG is not planning on increasing the price of fuel soon.

In other related news, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba has announced the cancellation of the rally slated for Thursday, January 27th 2022. Mr. Wabba revealed that the government’s decision to push the removal of fuel subsidy gratefully influenced this decision.
