A meeting between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and Federal Government as resulted in an agreement of four major issues.

Why it matters?
Few days ago, Prof Victor Osodeke released a statement saying that the union is giving the Federal Government an ultimatum of 21 days to pay N30 billion University Revitalization fund and N22 billion Earned Academic Allowances.

At the meeting of the two parties, the Federal Government represented by the speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gjababiamila agreed to the terms of the union. These four major issues bordering revitalization fund, Integrated Personnel, and Payroll Information System, Earned Academic Allowances, and renegotiation of 2019 agreement.

The Federal Government agreed to pay the N30 billion University Revitalization fund within 7days. It also says it would attend to the N22 billion Earned Academic Allowances component from the Education sector budget.

On the matter of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, the finance minister said that the Federal Government awaits the report of the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency before taking next steps.
