Instagram, one of Meta’s subsidiary companies, is adding a new feature to its platform that enables users to schedule posts on the app. The schedule post feature which is available to professional Instagram accounts will allow users to schedule contents including carousel pictures, and reels, for up to 75 days in advance.
Why this matters
Instagram users have in the past scheduled Instagram posts by depending on third-party applications, including Hootsuite, Later, and Buffer. Hence, the inclusion of the schedule post feature is a significant improvement for all users, including content creators and social media managers.
- Instagram had not announced plans to extend this feature to personal accounts at the time of this report.
What you should know
According to Techpoint’s explanation of how this feature would work, the procedure is as follows; “After selecting your content (just before you hit “Share”), scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “Advanced Settings.”
Tap the “Schedule this post” toggle. Select when you want the post to go live. Head back to the Instagram post page and tap “Schedule.”
The CEO of Instagram Adam Mosseri also announced the redesign of the website to make it “cleaner, faster, easier to use and to take advantage of large screen monitors.”
